I can't believe it has been over a month since my last blog post! The last month of school really took it out of me, time wise and mentally. I'm back though! Summer officially started last Wednesday for me and I am committed to this blog more than ever. I thought I would start back up with some of my favorite corners in my new apartment as well as some tips (suggestions) to a smooth move. So to start off, let me remind everyone that I am a grad student, aka a poor person. I don't have the finances to purchase new furniture that would fit together perfectly. So things are a little dysfunctional to say the least. However, I am really proud with how well things came together!

Alright so lets get into the actual move.

Tip 1:

Listen to me when I say THERE WILL ALWAYS BE MORE CRAP TO MOVE THAN YOU THINK! Every time I move I completely underestimate the amount of time and the number of trips it will take to move all my stuff. I don't own that much I swear, yet every move I find myself drowning in stuff. So my first tip is don't underestimate your things. They will beat you down by the end of it. Just come to accept it now and things will go much smoother.

Tip 2:

Boxes, Boxes, Boxes. I am not very strong (hello small hands and pitiful arms) so packing everything into heavy boxes doesn't make much sense if I'll be the one that ends up trying to lift it. That being said, if you're like me be ready to make a million small trips. I would suggest asking for help. I am a control freak and stubborn so as you can tell I end up doing a lot on my own. Don't be me! Recruit friends and pay them back with coffee breaks, or if you have the money, splurge it on professional movers.

Tip 3:

Clean before you move in. This ensures you are moving into a clean apartment. This may seem silly, but you don't know how long it's been since it was cleaned out. Even so, you know you'll clean more carefully than someone who isn't about to live there. This won't take long and trust me you won't be in the mood to do it with boxes everywhere.

Tip 4:

If you are not a perfectionist like me, this tip won't be much use to you. If you are..don't stress over getting everything in the right place immediately. Yes, it was amazing having my mom around to help me hang up curtains and mirrors, but the exact location of minor things like books and plants don't need to be stress over. I have been in this apartment for almost 6 months (what??) and things are still not completely done. It will take time but eventually every one of your things will have the perfect home. Just in time for your next move (joking!)
