This cheese pie goes very well with the meat pie I shared a few posts earlier. It could be a meal in itself as well! Both the cheese and meat pie are always requested when my family and I come to visit Switzerland. My Oma made the best version of both (only slightly biased), so I hope you all enjoy these recipes as much as I do!
1 round puff pastry
1/4 lb. grated gruyere cheese
1/4 lb. grated swiss cheese (trader joe's sells bags that already mix the swiss and gruyere cheese for you)
10 cherry tomatoes, cut in halves
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
1/4 tsp of salt
dash of nutmeg
Lay out 1 round puff pastry in a pie tin. Poke with forks.
Spread out the cheese evenly
Place cherry tomatoes cut side up on top of cheese
Mix the eggs, yogurt, cream, and salt together. Pour over cheese and tomatoes.
Sprinkle pepper and nutmeg over everything. Be careful not to add too much nutmeg (tends to overpower)
Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-40 minutes, until cheese is golden and mixture is set.
