The Basics to Wraps

September 21, 2017

Wraps deserve more credit than they get. You can make a meal out of anything if put it in wrap and call it lunch! Use up leftovers, add random things from the fridge, or take the time to follow a recipe; the options for wraps are endless. Still, what are some basics to always end up with a delicious wrap? Below I share a few suggestions.

How To Build The Perfect Wrap Every Time

I always add spreads like hummus, cashew "cheese" sauce, guacamole, or pesto. Something creamy is essential to a good wrap.

Beans and corn are classic wrap stables, but don't forget about tomatoes (cherry are best), cucumbers, peppers, and even peas. Basically, any vegetable, bean, lentil, and even rice will work in a wrap.

I recently discovered frozen black bean patties (yes, I know I am late to the game), but I love adding this to meals that just need something a little extra. Have leftover chicken? Throw that in! What about tofu? Yup that works too!

Final additions

Don't underestimate seasoning even for wraps. Salt and pepper are classics, but throw in some garlic powder, cumin, red pepper flakes, you name it! The key is flavor so don't skimp on this step.

Try different variations for the wrap itself. Lately I am obsessed with mini corn tortillas. Heat them up on the stove top for a few minutes. (Yes, this is essentially a taco, but let's not be too focused on the details people!) :)
