Spice Up Your Apple Cider with a Splash of Brandy

Apple cider is my absolute favorite holiday beverage. The sweet warmness of a cup of apple cider will warm you up perfectly. I have such fond memories of enjoying a cup of apple cider every year when my family and I would buy our Christmas tree. It was pretty much guaranteed that I would burn my whole mouth drinking it, but it was so worth it! Never mind that some years it was 60 degrees when we bought our Christmas tree. North Carolina weather is extra bipolar during November and December months.

Well, we probably all know how to make a batch of hot cider. However, if you want to take it up a notch, let it simmer with some cinnamon sticks in a pot, and then add a splash (or two) of brandy in it. If that doesn't put you in a holiday spirit, I don't know what will!

Ingredients

  • Apple Cider (go ahead and warm up the whole bottle)

  • Couple cinnamon sticks

  • Brandy

Directions

  1. Add the amount of apple cider you plan on drinking to a pot on the stovetop. Add the cinnamon sticks and let it simmer for as long as you can resist! Let's try 1 hour, shall we?

  2. Pour into your favorite mug and add a splash or two of brandy.

  3. Enjoy!
